THE DISTRICT BOOK FAIR IN SIVASAGAR HAS STARTED FROM TODAY

Staff report Sivasagar,Nov 17 ; The District Book Fair of Sivasagar has started from today in the Boarding field, Sivasagar. It is a four day long fare organized by the NGO 'JAAPI'. The deputy commissioner of  Sivasagar district Mr. Bishnu Kamal Bora has inaugurated the fair.

             According to the organizing committee a good number of  publishers from all over the state have participated in the book fair. On the inauguration day three books of three famous authors were unveiled by the commissioner. Along with the local MLA ,several other eminent authors were present in the inauguration ceremony. Literary competitions were held among the students. A good number of students from all over the district came to take part in the competitions.

              There was a heavy rush of readers to the book fair on the very first day. Books worth three lakh rupees were sold on the first day. To see the response from the public, the organizers and the publishers are very excited and a good sale is expected.

Inter-District Quiz Competition Held by Tansen Science Academy On Independence Day

Staff report Gargaon 18 Apr : An inter school quiz competition was held for the senior students of classes IX and X by Tansen Science Academy , Gargaon today in the Prakash Auditorium of the Academy in collaboration with the local people on account of Independence day. On this beautiful occasion the whole school was decorated with flowers and colored paper.

                Many schools from all over the district came to take part in the competition. Only 8 teams were selected.  It was a competition of four round of questions which covered the areas of Science, Geography, Social Science and current affairs. Dr. Vijoy Chakial was the quiz master. He conducted the competition very well. He was felicitated by one of the teachers of the academy. 

                First the quiz master Dr Vijoy Chakial named the team of his own. After four rounds of questions BRK Senior secondary school came to be first securing 70 points while M.G.M Senior Secondary school came to be second securing 55 points. SK Govt. High School secured 45 points and became third.

                After the competition a prize distribution ceremony was held under the presidentship of the Principal of the Academy. The local MLA Mr. Jogen Mohan was the chief guest of the meeting. He was felicitated by the students of the Academy. He delivered a fertile speech on the significance of the day. The winner teams were rewarded with books and certificates. The other participants were also given a participation certificate. The prize distribution ceremony came to be end at about 2:30 pm with the concluding speech of the president.
