Correct the Tense form of the following.

= Ice floats on water.

= I want to go for a walk, but I have not finished my work yet.

d) Perhaps it (rain) yesterday.
= Perhaps it rained yesterday .

e) All the students ( leave) when I reached the school.
= All the students left when I reached the school.

f) You (sleep) for three hours now.
= You have been sleeping for three hours now.

g) We (walk)  for two hours at a stretch and now we need to rest.
= We have been walking for two hours at a stretch and now we need to rest .

  Change the Voice form of the following.

a) My bicycle has been stolen.
= Someone has stolen my bicycle .

b) He is expected soon.
= We expect him soon.

c) He likes tea.
= Tea is liked by her.

d) Please give me some more time.
= You are requested to give me some more time.

e)When will the work be finished ?
= When they will finish the work ?

f) Shut the window.
= Let the window be shut.

 Fill in the blanks with the suitable Prepositions

a)We informed the police about / of  the theft in the house.

b) The children were looking forward to their visit to Shillong.

c) I spoke to her in the office.

d)  Did you enjoy yourself in the party last night ?

e) The girl standing between the two boys is their sister.

= He came when it was morning.

d) I shall never forget you. ( Change into a interrogative sentence )
= Shall I ever forget you ?

e. You must work hard to succeed. Change into a compound sentence)
= Work hard or you will not succeed in life.

f. No sooner did he see me than he began to quarrel. ( Change into affirmative).
= As soon as he saw me, he began to quarrel.

Change the form of narration of the following.

a. "Why aren't you wearing chappals" I ask one boy.
"My mother did not bring them down from the self" , he answers simply.
= I ask one boy why he is not wearing chappals. He answers simply that his mother did not bring them down from the self.

b. One day Mukesh told me that he would be motor mechanic and leave Firozabad. I asked him if he knew anything about cars.
= One day Mukesh said to me, " I shall be a motor mechanic and leave Firozabad. " I said to him , " Do you know anything about cars ? "

Correct the tense form of the following sentences.

a. I wish I ( know ) her.
= I wish I knew her.

b. The meeting ( begin) when we arrived at the auditorium.
= The meeting was begun when we arrived at the auditorium.

c. The First World War (last) for four years and ended in 1918.
= The First World War lasted for four years and ended in 1918.

d. As soon as I came in she ( leave) the room.
= As soon as I came in she left the room.

e. I usually (go) to bed at 11 O' clock.
= I usually go to bed at 11 O' Clock.

f. To hate man (be) the biggest crime.
= To hate man is the biggest crime.

g) Please stop singing because I (try) to work.
= Please stop singing because  I was trying to work.

 Change the voice form of the following.

a) The student was told to leave the room.
= The teacher told the student to leave the room.

b) Guwahati is called the gateway to the North East.
= People call Guwahati the gateway to the North East.

c) They laughed at us.
= We were laughed at by them.

d) My umbrella has been stolen.
= Someone has stolen my umbrella.

e) The thief was beaten up by the mob.
= The mob beat up the thief.

f) You will be asked to deliver the letters.
= They will ask you to deliver the letters.

Fill up the blanks with the suitable prepositions.

a) The train is arrived at the station a minute ago.

b) My birthday is on 24 August.

c) The office is closed on the second and  fourth Saturday.

d)Our school is at Chandmari.

e)We have been staying at a hotel near the bus stop.

   ( change into complex sentence )
= I Know what his name is.

e) Everybody must admit that Tendulkar is  a great cricketer.
     ( Change into negative )
= Nobody can deny that Tendulkar is a great cricketer.

f) I shall never forget you.
   ( Change into Interrogative)
= Shall I ever forget you ?

Change the form of narration of the following.

a) The lady said to the salesman, " What is the price of this Barbie doll ?" The salesman said to her, " It is a bit expensive. But I can give it to you at a 20 per cent discount."
= The lady asked the salesman what the price of that Barbie doll was. The salesman replied  her that it was a bit expensive but he could give that to her at a 20 per cent discount.

b) One day Mohan told me that he would become a doctor and leave Assam. I asked him if he knew anything about medicine.
= One day Mohan said to me, " I shall become a doctor and leave Assam." I asked him, " Do you know anything about medicine. "

Correct the tense form of the following.

a) I usually (go) to bed at 10 O' clock.
= I usually go to bed at 10 O' clock.

b) The teacher (know) that the boy was lying.
= The teacher knew that the boy was lying.

c) He (work) here since 2009.
= He has been working since 2009.

d) When I reached the station, the train (leave).
= When I reached the station, the train had left.

e) I (go) to Delhi tomorrow.
= I am going to Delhi tomorrow.
                   or
   I shall go to Delhi tomorrow.

f) I (write) an essay now.
= I am writing an essay now.

Change the voice form of the following.

a) She bought the baby a doll.
= A doll was bought for the baby by her.

b) They were refused admission.
= The Principal refused them admission.

c) He was found guilty of murder.
= Police found him guilty of murder.

d) The leader was welcomed by the people.
= The people welcomed the leader.

e) My watch has been stolen.
= Someone has stolen my pen.

Fill in the blanks with the suitable prepositions.

a) I have heard a lot about you from your class teacher.

b) His father is a principal of a school in Jorhat.

c) Please sit down for a few minutes.

= Raju is the most intelligent boy.

c) No sooner did he see me than he began to quarrel. ( affirmative)
= As soon as he saw me , he began to quarrel.

d) I know where he was born. ( simple sentence)
= I know his birth place.

e) Ne tried all plans. ( Change into negative)
= He left no plan untried.

f) I shall never forget you. ( Change into interrogative)

Change the voice form of the following.

a) She handed me the letter.
= The letter was handed me by her.

= We were laughed at by them.

c) The stranger made an attempt to break into the house.
= An attempt was made by the stranger to break into the house.

d) The student was told to leave the room.
= The teacher told the student to leave the room. 

e) Have they done the work ?
= Has the work been done by them?

b) I asked Ranjan where Neena lived. Ranjan replied regretfully that he didn't know.
= I said to Ranjan, " Where does Neena live ? " Ranjan said, " Sorry, I don't khow."

Rewrite the following sentences as directed.

a) No other boxer is as great as Marry Kom. ( comparative degree)
= Marry Kom is greater than any other boxer.

b) None but Anita can do the sum. ( Affirmative)
= Only Anita can do the sum.

c) Everybody must admit that Tendulkar is a great cricketer. ( Negative)
= No one can deny that Tendulkar is a great cricketer.

d) I know his name. ( Complex sentence)
= I know what his name is.

e) He hoped that he would win the prize. ( Simple sentence)
= He hopped to win the prize.

f) Is it not a foolish idea ? ( Transform into a statement)
= It is a foolish idea.
