CELEBRATION OF CLEANLINESS WEEK BY PRESIDENCY SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

Staff report Gargaon Jan 24: The students of Presidency Senior Secondary School along with their teachers has celebrated cleanliness week in their school campus from today. On this occasion the whole campus of the school was cleaned and decorated with green flowers.

             The first programme of the day was cleanliness drive throughout the school campus. The students cleaned the school campus and planted approximately 1500 saplings along its boundary. They also went to the areas adjoined to the school and did the cleanings . The effort of the school was praised by the local people and they came forward to help the students.

              Different events like poster making, slogan writing, essay writing debate, quiz etc. were held among the junior students. Many students from the nearby schools took part in the competition. In the afternoon a general meeting was held under the presidentship of the principal of the school. Dr. Bhabesh Kalita an eminent environmentalist was the chief guest of the meeting . He was felicitated by the students. He praised the students for their performances. Addressing the gathering on the occasion , he appealed the students and the teachers to adopt the green ways of life.

             Thus, the first day programmes came to be end with a prize distribution ceremony. It is a five day long programme and will be ended on 28th January,2022.

Giving details of the celebrations where Dr. Himanta Bishwa Sharma, the chief minister of Assam, unfurled the statue of Padmadhar Chaliha, the founder of the college and the stature of Paragdhar Chaliha, the architect of the Sivasagar College, held on 7th Nov. 2021 giving a dignified speech on education. Staff report Sivasagar, Nov. 7 : The opening ceremony of Platinum Jubilee of Sivasagar College was held by the college today in the college campus with great enthusiasm. On this beautiful occasion the surrounding of the college was cleaned and decorated with flowers, balloons and coloured papers.

       Dr. Himanta Bishwa Sharma, the chief minister of Assam was the chief guest of the programme. He arrived the college at 10:30 am. and welcomed by the students of the college from the college gate with a group of Bihu dance. First he unfurled the stature of Padmadhar Chaliha, the founder of the college and then the stature of Paragdhar Chaliha, the architect of the college .

       A general meeting was held in the college auditorium under the presidentship of the principal of the college, Dr. Profulla Chandra Kalita. The students of the college felicitated him with flourish Bihuwan. He delivered a dignified speech to the students on education. In his speech he told the students to work hard to success in life . He also emphasis the students not to study just to secure a good percentage but to acquire knowledge. The meeting came to be end at about 2:30 Pm with the concluding speech of the president
