 USE THE  CORRECT TENSE FORM OF THE VERBS GIVEN IN BRACKETS


1)  H.S.L.C -1998

a) When he entered my room, I (write) a letter.
= When he entered my room I was writing a letter.

b) The match (start) before we reached the field.
= The matched had started before we reached the field.

c) It is time you (go) home.
= It is time you went home.

2) H.S.L.C - 1999

a) We shall wait here until he ( come ) back.
= We shall wait here until he comes back.

b) When he came in, I (write) a letter.
= When he came in, I was writing a letter.

3) H.S.L.C - 2000

a) He (walk ) across the road when a scooter hit  him.
= He was walking across the road when a scooter hit him.

b) I wish I (accept) the job.
= I wish I accepted the job.

c) Hurry up, the taxi (wait).
= Hurry up the taxi is waiting.

              A.H.S.E.C. - 2000

a) I (see) him a week ago.
= I saw him a week ago.

b) The boy (sleep) don't disturb him.
= The boy is sleeping, don't disturb him.

c) His father (die) before the doctor arrived.
= His father had died before the doctor arrived.

d) I (work) on this project for the last two years.
= I have been working on this project for the last two years.

e) When we went to him, he (teach) his students.
= When we went to him, he was teaching his students.

f) If I (be) you, I would not do that.
= If I were You, I would not do that.

g) He (come) here every Monday.
= He comes here every Monday.

              4) H.S.L.C. - 2001

a) They (live) in Delhi for ten years.
= They have been living in Delhi for ten years.

b) She died after she (suffer) for five years.
= She died after she had been suffering for five years.

c) Ten years (pass) since I met you.
= Ten years have passed since I met you.
d)) When he came, it (be) all over.
= When she came it was all over.

e) He (stay) here until you return.
= You will stay here until you return.

                      A.H.S.E.C. - 2001

a) Mr. Sharma (leave) for Europe last Friday.
= Mr. Sharma left for Europe last Friday.

b) The train (start) at nine o' clock each morning.
= The train starts at nine o' clock each morning.

c) Ram went out after he (lock) the door.
= Ram went out after he had locked the door.

d) He behaved as though he (be) mad.
= He behaved as though he were mad.

                5) H.S.L.C. - 2002

= I have not met my friend for ages.

= If you had requested him, he would have helped you.

d) She (work) in this school since 1990.
= She has been working in this school since 1990.

= We too are friends for long.

= They have just arrived from New York.

= We have been waiting on the plateform since three o' clock.

e) The water in the pond ( freeze ) last night.
= The water in the pond froze last night.

f) You ever ( read ) "War and Peach" ?
= Have you ever read "War and Peace"

g) Wood always ( float ).
= Wood always floats.

a) He can not play in the match as he (injure) his foot.
= He can not play in the match as he has injured his foot.

= I wish I could help you.

= If I were you, I would not accept the post.

= He had reached the station before the train departed.

= I saw him a week ago.

b) If the baby is a girl we (go) to call her Radha.
= If the baby is a girl we are going to call her Radha.

c) He (fly) a kite.
= He is flying a kite.

= It has been raining since early morning.
