3 KILLED IN THE ROAD MISHAP AT BALIGHAT

Staff report Gargaon ,Apr 7: Two persons had to lose their lives in a tragic road accident that took place here in Balighat Tini Ali under the Simaluguri Police Station today in the morning at about 8:30.

           According to the onlookers it was a head on collision between a local bus and a loaded truck. A Maruti van suddenly appeared in front of the local bus (As 04 BC 7439) coming from Sonari at a full speed. The bus driver took a sharp turn to avoid collision with the van. He lost his control and collided head on with the truck ( As 09 CD 3473) coming from the opposite direction.

           As a result two passengers of the bus were instantly killed on the spot while more than ten other passengers of the bus were grievously injured. Police arrived the spot after fifteen minutes and identified the dead persons as Rakesh Sharma (23) and Bipul Kalita (42). Jiten Sharma the bus driver is in critical condition. He has been sent to Joysagar Civil Hospital along with other injured persons. The accident has created a sensational environment in the entire locality.

3 KILLED IN A TRAGIC ROAD ACCIDENT

Staff report Sivasagar,Apr 8: A tragic road accident took place here in Sivasagar town today at about 2:30 pm. According to the eyewitness a local bus coming from Jorhat at a full speed lost its control and overturned into a ditch after hitting a roadside tree.

            As a result three persons of the bus were instantly killed on the spot and more than ten other passengers  were seriously injured. People rushed to the spot and dragged out the injured persons from the bus. Police arrived the spot and arrested the bus driver. The injured persons were sent to Joysagar  Civil Hospital.

THE DEVASTATING FIRE AT DIBRUGARH TOOK FOUR LIVES

Staff report Dibrugarh, June 1:- Four persons had to lose their lives in a devastating fire that broke out here in Dibrugarh town under the Dibrugarh police station last night at about 2:30 am.

                    According to the local people while everyone in the town was asleep, the fire occured in a clothes shop. The fire spread to the nearby shops. Within a few minutes the fire engulfed more than ten shops big and small. Three fire engines arrived the spot after 15 minutes. They tried their best to douse the fire. After one hour of hard labour they were able to bring the fire under their control. But before they bring the fire under their control more than thirty shops big and small were completely gutted in the fire and four persons sleeping in the shops were burnt alive.

               Police arrived the spot after half an hour and let know the dead persons as Probin Deka (29), Robin Talukdar (43), Hiren Das (36) and Arif Hussain (21). Police investigation is going on but no clue to the fire could be found so far. The total lose of estimate in the fire is about two crores.

UNITED BANK, SONAPUR BRANCH WAS LOOTED

Staff  report Guwahati,  May 31:-  Today the  United  Bank  Sonapur Branch  was looted by a gang of four robbers coming in   a   jeep.  The  robbery  took  place  at about 11:30 am.

                      According to the bank staff it was the busy  office  hour of  the  day. The gang  of robbers  entered  the  bank forcefully.  They demanded  the cashier of the bank to   hand   over  them  some cash. The  cashier  tried  to  resist  them but he had  to lose his life in the  bullets of them. The robbers took out some cash worth fifteen lakhs from the almirah by themselves  and disappeared  from   the spot  without   being   a  bit   late.  Police arrived the  spot after  the  departure of the robbers. Their investigation is going on but no  one  could be  arrested  so far.

    5 Killed, 30 injured in the mishap of Delhi Bound Rajdhani Express.

Staff report Guwahati Feb. 9 : Five peple had to  lose their  lives  and more   than thirty  other  persons  were   grievously injured while the Delhi bound Guwahati Express   got   derailed   here  in  Rangia today at about 11:30 am.
                         It has been suspected that the cause of the accident was a defect in the railway line.   Three  coaches  of  the train   along     with    the   engine   were overturned. The railway officers rushed to the spot. With the help of local people they       dragged     out      the     trapped passengers  safely.  But  five  lives  were lost in the accident.
                            Police arrived the spot after half  an hour and   identified  the dead   persons  as  Rebika  Sharma (22), Binoy  Kalita  (36), Rupak  Sharma (31), Ratul  Deka  (28)  and  Bhiru  Khataniar (38). The seriously injured persons were sent to Guwahati Medical College.


5) Write a report on a devastating flood.

 15 KILLED IN A DEVASTATING FLOOD

Staff  report  Jorhat,  July  26 : The upper Assam   has    recently    experienced   a devastating flood due to continuous and torrential    rain    in    the    Naga   Hills. Sivasagar, Jorhat   and   Majuli   are  the districts which have  been  under water for last a few days and where the lose of life and property are immense.
          
                    The flood swept away a good number of houses, bridges and trees old and  young.   Thousands  acre  of   crops land were totally destroyed in the flood. The embankment  of  the  Brahmaputra river was  smashed  down  at  different places and  the  rushing  water washed away a  huge number  of   cattle   along with  people. According to the government report fifteen person have to lose their lives in the flood till now and more than  ten thousand   people   have been homeless and now they are living in inhumane condition at different flood centres.

                  Many local  NGO's and  rescue teams  came  forward  to  help  the  flood victim people with  relief materials. The Disaster Management Minister of Assam has   visited   the  flood  affected  people today  in  the afternoon.  He  distributed food,  clothes,   and     medicine    among them.

Staff report,Dibrugarh;July 16: Madhupur Bazaar was destroyed in a devastating fire that broke out today in the evening at about 6:30 under the Dibrugarh police station.

              According to the local people a gas cylinder burst in a small hotel. The fire spread to the nearest huts and then to the sheds of the market. In the twinkling of eyes the fire engulfed more than ten shops big and small.

           Two fire engines arrived the spot and they tried their best to douse the fire. At about 7:30 the fire was brought under control. Before they bring the fire under their control more than 15 shops and a few sheds were totally destroyed in the fire. Fortunately, no one had to be injured. The loss of properties in the fire is significant.

Celebration of  World Environment Day by Presidency Junior College.

Staff report, Gargaon; 5 June; The students of Presidency Junior College along with their teachers has celebrated World Environment Day today in the college campus with great zeal. On this occassion the whole college was decorated with flowers.

         Many events like poster making, slogan writing, debate, quiz, essay writing etc. were held on the theme of Save Earth. Many students from the nearby schools took part in the competitions.

          In the afternoon a general meeting was held under the presidentship of Santanu Sharma the principal of the college. Dr Bhabesh Kalita an eminent environmentalist was the chief guest of the meeting. He was felicitated by the students of class XII. He delivered a fertile speech regarding the declining health of the earth and highly praised the students for the performances. Addressing the gathering on the ocassion, he appealed the students  teachers to adopt the green ways of life.

          The meeting came to be end with a prize distribution ceremony. Each participants was given a participation certificate. The meeting was over at quite 4:30 pm. with the concluding speech of the president.

Blood donation camp by Rangpur Senior Secondary School, Gargaon

Staff report Gargaon, Aug 19:  A blood donation camp was organized by Rangpur Senior Secondary School, Gargaon today in the school auditorium in collaboration with the Rangchangia Youth Society. On this occassion the whole school was cleaned and decorated. All the preparations such as arrangement of beds, sanitations, medicine etc. were made the previous day. A team of doctors and nurses arrived the camp at 9:30 am.

              Dr Utpal Deka the district health officer was the chief guest. He inaugurated the camp at 10:00 am by cutting the ribbon. He delivered a speech extolling those who came to donate their blood that blood donation is a virtuous deed that gives one a new life , a new hope and a new vision. He also encouraged them to donate blood in the hour of someone's need. One of the doctors also addressed the gathering saying that blood donation is not injurious to health. It does not weaken the donators. The recovery takes place  very soon.

            All the senior students of the school along with their teachers donated their blood. Many people from the locality came to donate their blood willingly . All total one hundred and fifty donators donated their blood. They were given fruits after their blood donation. The blood donation camp came to be end at about 3:30 pm.

Celebration of Annual Prize Day 2022

Staff report Mathura, 12 May: The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of the year 2022 was held by R. K. Senior Secondary school today in the afternoon at the school auditorium. On behalf of this beautiful ocassion the whole campus of the school was cleaned and decorated by the students with flowers.

           A general meeting was held at about 10; 30 am under the presidentship of the Principal of the school. Mr. Rajat Kamal the local MLA was the chief guest of the meeting. He was felicitated by the students of the school. He delivered a fertile speech towards the students. In his speech he emphasized on the significance of sports in student life, and encouraged the students to make sports part of life.
After his speech the prize distribution ceremony was started. He gave away the prizes among the students.

            After the prize distribution ceremony a few teachers and guardians spoke on the significance of the day. The meeting came to be end at about 4;30 pm with the concluding speech of the president.

Staff report Charaideo, Aug 15 : Along with all other people of the country, today the students of Presidency Senior Secondary School have celebrated Independence Day in the school  with great enthusiasm. On this beautiful occasion the whole school was decorated with flowers, coloured papers and balloons. 

               The students gathered in the school at 7:30 am. The principal of the school Mr Shantanu Sharma hoisted the national flag at 8:00 am and then addressed the students on the significance of the day. The students saluted the national flag , sang the national anthem and pledged to uphold the honour and integrity.

      Literary competitions like slogan writing, debate, quiz, essay writing etc. were held among the students. Many students from the nearby schools took part in the competitions.

          In the afternoon a general meeting was held under the presidentship of Santanu Sharma the principal of the school. Bhabesh Kalita a local freedom fighter was the chief guest of the meeting. He was felicitated by the students of class XII. He delivered a fertile speech on the sacrifices of the patriots during the reign of the British in the country. A few teachers and students also spoke on the significance of the day.
